The Encore AI Series A puts $30 million behind a startup building AI agents that learn from real customer conversations. For retail investors watching public software names such as Salesforce, SAP, Zoho and HubSpot, the deal highlights a core fight in enterprise AI: who can turn a company’s customer data into automated sales and support work.
Encore AI said the round was led by Team8. Planven, Lukatz and Garage also joined, along with banks and insurers, according to the company. Encore said some of the financial institutions that invested had used its product before backing the company.
The startup was founded in 2022 as Insait IO by CEO Dvir Ginzburg. It first built recommendation tools for financial advisers and relationship managers, then rebranded as Encore AI and broadened the product into a platform for training and deploying AI voice agents.
How does Encore AI work?
Encore AI analyzes customer calls, emails, text messages and customer relationship management data. Customer relationship management, or CRM, software is the system companies use to track customers, prospects, sales activity and support history.
Ginzburg calls Encore’s method “interaction mining,” according to TechCrunch. The system breaks customer conversations into stages and looks for which parts helped an employee move a sale, support issue or customer success process forward, and which parts did not.
The company uses those findings to create playbooks for AI agents. Ginzburg told TechCrunch that the agents can borrow from the best-performing approaches used by employees, including examples, anecdotes and even jokes that worked in past conversations.
Encore says its agents can speak or message directly with customers. They can also work as assistants for human employees by suggesting replies or tactics during live customer conversations. The company says the same analysis can show businesses where support and sales processes are slowing down or creating friction.
Ginzburg told TechCrunch that Encore has more than 40 enterprise customers worldwide, with financial institutions making up most of that base. He said annual recurring revenue has grown more than fivefold since the company raised its seed round less than 18 months ago, though he did not disclose revenue or valuation figures.
The startup plans to use the new funding to build out its U.S. sales operation and bring its platform to more large financial institutions.
Encore is entering a market where larger CRM companies already sit on valuable customer records. TechCrunch noted that companies such as Salesforce, SAP, Zoho and HubSpot could build similar AI features around their customers’ data. Ginzburg argued to TechCrunch that having data access is different from making historical conversations the center of how AI agents are built, and said larger vendors would have to change their technical and implementation setups to do that in the same way.
