OpenAI’s Denise Dresser to leave as Dali Rajic takes revenue chief role

OpenAI Denise Dresser leaving marks a change at the company’s commercial leadership less than a year after she joined. OpenAI said Dresser will depart after a transition period to pursue other opportunities, while Dali Rajic, most recently president and chief operating officer of cybersecurity company Wiz, will become chief revenue officer.

The change also follows the departure announcement of longtime OpenAI executive Brad Lightcap. CNBC reported that Lightcap said Tuesday in a post on X that he planned to “start something new.” The report did not describe a connection between his exit and Dresser’s planned departure.

Why is Denise Dresser leaving OpenAI?

OpenAI said Dresser is leaving to pursue other opportunities. The company said she will work with the business team during a transition period to support customers, but CNBC’s report provided no further details about her plans.

Dresser joined OpenAI in December 2025 as chief revenue officer. In announcing that appointment, OpenAI said she would oversee global revenue strategy across enterprise customers and customer success, the functions focused on selling to businesses and helping those clients use the company’s products.

Before joining OpenAI, Dresser was chief executive of Slack. OpenAI said she had also spent more than a decade at Salesforce, Slack’s parent company, in global sales leadership positions.

Who is Dali Rajic?

Rajic will lead OpenAI’s global revenue organization, according to the company’s Aug. 13 announcement. He previously served as president and COO of Wiz. OpenAI also cited earlier roles as president and COO of Zscaler and as chief customer and revenue officer at AppDynamics.

OpenAI credited Dresser with building its revenue team, developing relationships with large customers and establishing a commercial base during what it called a formative period for the enterprise AI market. Those are the company’s characterizations of her tenure.

The succession gives OpenAI a named replacement while Dresser remains through the transition. The company reported that its products reach more than 1 billion weekly active users and more than 2 million businesses, figures it provided in the announcement.
