The stock market week September 14 brings two scheduled focal points for investors: the Federal Reserve’s policy decision on Wednesday and a corporate-conference calendar led by Salesforce’s Dreamforce. CNBC identified those events as the main items on the agenda for Sept. 14 through Sept. 18, after much of earnings season had concluded.

The week will also bring several U.S. economic reports. These releases were scheduled at the time of publication, so their results were not yet known.

What is on the stock market calendar for September 14-18?

The Fed’s two-day meeting is due to end Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 16. Before the decision, CNBC said market pricing indicated nearly 90% odds of an interest-rate increase. That expectation followed an August increase of 0.3% in core consumer prices, which excludes food and energy.

The Fed’s task is to pursue maximum employment and stable prices, as set by Congress. It sets the stance of monetary policy largely through its target for the federal funds rate, the overnight rate at which banks borrow reserves from one another. The Federal Reserve says changes to that target normally affect short-term rates and broader financial conditions, which in turn can influence household and business spending, employment and inflation.

The data calendar surrounding the decision includes:

  • Wednesday: August retail sales, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. ET, before the Fed announcement. CNBC noted that consumer spending represents roughly two-thirds of U.S. gross domestic product.
  • Thursday: August housing starts and pending home sales, both scheduled alongside weekly initial jobless claims.
  • Friday: The August industrial production and capacity-utilization report, scheduled for 9:15 a.m. ET.

Dreamforce and the corporate conference schedule

The second major item is Dreamforce 2026, Salesforce’s annual event in San Francisco, scheduled for Tuesday through Thursday. CNBC described the gathering as bringing together clients, vendors and technology-industry leaders. Salesforce Chief Executive Marc Benioff’s keynote was scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Other companies were also set to appear at investor conferences during the week. Cardinal Health, Johnson & Johnson and Eli Lilly had healthcare-conference presentations on Monday. Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs and Capital One were listed for financial-services events, while GE Vernova, Eaton and Boeing were scheduled to speak at Morgan Stanley’s Laguna Conference.

Those appearances and the Fed meeting are calendar events rather than guarantees of a market move. For investors, the immediate facts to track are the Fed’s Sept. 16 decision, the incoming economic releases and the companies scheduled to take the conference stage.
