The bitcoin price below $76k is a chart scenario analysts were watching after Bitcoin fell back below $77,000 on Nov. 2. Cointelegraph reported that BTC/USD was down 1.7% on the day after reaching $78,750 following Sunday’s weekly close, showing that the cryptocurrency did not rise alongside a sharp drop in oil prices.
For investors, the immediate point is that the oil move and Bitcoin’s move went in different directions during the same session. That does not establish that lower oil prices should cause Bitcoin to rise. It shows that Bitcoin was trading amid several competing market events, including corporate earnings and the U.S. midterm elections.
What Bitcoin price levels are analysts watching?
Crypto analyst Rekt Capital said Bitcoin’s unsuccessful attempt to get through $78,500 on a three-day chart could leave the price vulnerable to a move below roughly $76,000. That is technical analysis, which uses past price patterns and market levels to outline possible scenarios rather than predict a certain outcome.
Trading company QCP Capital described $76,000 to $76,600 as a support band, meaning an area where buying had previously interrupted price declines. QCP said the zone had produced upward reversals four times since September, though prior reactions do not guarantee it will hold again.
On the upside, QCP identified $79,500 to $80,500 as resistance, an area where a price advance has struggled. It said a daily close above $79,500 would recover a band Bitcoin had lost the previous Thursday.
- Support cited by QCP: $76,000 to $76,600.
- Resistance cited by QCP: $79,500 to $80,500.
- Levels QCP said could come into view if support breaks: the 50-week average near $75,700, followed by the 200-day average near $73,100.
Why did oil fall while Bitcoin declined?
Cointelegraph reported that West Texas Intermediate crude was down more than 7% near $96.50 a barrel after hitting $95.15, its lowest level since Oct. 15. Brent crude was reported about 9% lower near $103.30.
The report linked the oil retreat to comments from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio that markets interpreted as increasing the chances of a non-military resolution to the Iran conflict. According to the report, Rubio said President Donald Trump preferred to end the conflict peacefully.
U.S. stocks initially opened higher, but gains moderated before third-quarter earnings from Apple and Palantir. The Nasdaq Composite was about 0.2% higher at the time cited by Cointelegraph. Gold rose 2% and traded above $3,950 an ounce after reaching $3,891 on Friday, the report said.
The session offered no single verified explanation for Bitcoin’s decline. The available evidence establishes the simultaneous moves and the price levels analysts were monitoring, while the outlook below or above those levels remained conditional.
