Robinhood crypto volume in August 2026 reached $17.5 billion, up 61% from July, according to the company’s monthly operating data. The figure shows a rebound in the dollar value of crypto traded across Robinhood’s app and Bitstamp, while remaining 38% below the level reported a year earlier.
For investors following Robinhood’s crypto business, the split matters: Bitstamp accounted for $10.1 billion of the August total, more than the $7.4 billion handled through the Robinhood app. That means the combined headline figure should not be read as app-only activity.
Robinhood reported the data on Sept. 10. The company described the metric as crypto notional trading volume. Notional volume is the dollar value of assets bought and sold on a platform, rather than revenue, profit, customer assets or the number of customers. Robinhood’s release does not report crypto revenue or profitability in its August figures.
How much of Robinhood’s August crypto volume came from Bitstamp?
Bitstamp supplied about 58% of Robinhood’s reported $17.5 billion in August crypto volume. The exchange recorded $10.1 billion, up 53% from July and down 30% from August 2025, Robinhood said.
Volume on the Robinhood app was $7.4 billion. That was a 72% increase from July, but 46% below the app’s August 2025 volume. Across both venues, average daily crypto volume was $565 million during the 31 crypto and prediction-markets trading days in August. Robinhood said this consisted of $326 million a day at Bitstamp and $239 million a day on its app.
The month-over-month comparison began from $10.9 billion of total crypto volume in July. August 2025 volume was $28.1 billion, the company’s table shows. The monthly gain therefore did not bring combined trading back to its year-earlier level.
What is included in Robinhood’s reported crypto volume?
The total combines trading on the Robinhood app and Bitstamp. Robinhood said its crypto-volume measure does not include activity on Robinhood Chain, its blockchain project. That scope limitation is relevant when comparing the operating metric with claims about the company’s broader crypto presence.
Elsewhere in the August update, Robinhood reported 28.6 million funded customers and $384 billion in total platform assets at month-end. Funded customers increased by about 120,000 from July, while platform assets rose 8% month over month. Event contracts traded totaled 4.7 billion, down 23% from July but 15 times the August 2025 level.
Robinhood cautioned that the monthly information is unaudited. Results for months in the latest fiscal quarter are preliminary estimates subject to its financial closing process, and final figures in SEC filings may differ.
